From Understanding Life to Understanding People
Some stories are written with words.
Some are written through the lives we live.
I have always been fascinated by people.
Not just by what they say, but by what they leave unsaid.
The emotions behind a smile.
The silence behind an argument.
The fear behind anger.
The exhaustion behind “I’m fine.”
And the little things people carry quietly because they don’t know whom to tell.
Perhaps that is why, even before psychology became a part of my professional journey, listening to people and understanding their stories always felt natural to me.
I have always enjoyed conversations that go beyond the surface, like talking to people, sharing perspectives, understanding different ways of thinking and trying to make sense of the experiences that shape us.
Over time, that curiosity became something deeper. It became a desire to understand the human mind, emotions, relationships and behaviour and, more importantly, to understand how I could use that knowledge to help people navigate their own journeys.
From Science to Psychology
My academic journey began in Life Sciences. I hold a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. I have qualified CSIR-NET Life Sciences with AIR 154. My years in science and research taught me to observe, question, analyse, and look beyond what is immediately visible. But somewhere along the way, I realised that there was another kind of complexity that fascinated me just as much as the complexity of a cell or a molecule: the human mind.
We can study biological systems under a microscope.
But understanding a person’s thoughts, emotions, memories, relationships, fears and dreams requires something different: curiosity, patience, empathy and the willingness to truly listen.
That realisation gradually led me towards psychology and counselling.
And today, I find myself standing at the beautiful intersection of science and humanity.
My Journey into Counselling
My counselling journey has been one of learning, unlearning and understanding.
I hold a Professional Diploma in Counselling and Guidance, along with professional training in Child and Parenting Psychology and Clinical Psychology, from Emo Matrix.
I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Psychology, while also pursuing a Diploma in Psychotherapy from Emo Matrix to continue developing my understanding of therapeutic approaches and the complexities of human behaviour.
For me, learning psychology is not simply about collecting qualifications.
It is about constantly asking:
Why do we think the way we do?
Why do we behave the way we do?
Why do some experiences stay with us for years?
Why do we sometimes struggle to say what we actually feel?
And how can we learn to relate to ourselves and others in healthier ways?
I don’t think these questions ever really have a final answer.
And perhaps that is what makes psychology so beautiful.
What Counselling Means to Me
I don’t see counselling as someone sitting across from you and telling you what you should do.
I see it as a space where you can finally slow down.
A space where you can speak without having to constantly explain or defend yourself.
A space where your thoughts can be explored, your emotions acknowledged and your experiences understood.
Sometimes we know exactly what is troubling us.
Sometimes we only know that something doesn’t feel right.
And sometimes, we have been so busy being strong for everyone else that we have forgotten to ask ourselves what we need.
Counselling cannot erase everything that has happened to us.
But it can help us understand ourselves better, recognise patterns, find healthier ways of coping and make choices with greater awareness.
And sometimes, having someone walk beside you while you figure things out can make the journey a little less lonely.
The People I Hope to Work With
My areas of interest include adult emotional wellbeing, children and adolescents, parenting, self-confidence, overthinking, stress, emotional difficulties and personal growth.
I am particularly interested in understanding what lies beneath behaviour.
A child who is constantly angry may not simply be “difficult.”
A teenager who has withdrawn may not simply be “rude.”
A parent who feels overwhelmed may not be “failing.”
And an adult who keeps overthinking may not simply need to “stop thinking so much.”
There is usually a story underneath the behaviour.
I want to understand that story.
Because when we understand what is happening beneath the surface, we can begin to respond differently.
I Am Also a Teacher and a Writer
Psychology is not my only world.
I come from a strong background in science, research and education, and teaching has been an important part of my life.
I teach and mentor students in Life Sciences and competitive examinations, including CSIR-NET, and I have always enjoyed simplifying complicated concepts and helping learners find confidence in their own abilities.
Then there is writing.
Writing has been my way of making sense of the world for as long as I can remember.
I am the author of Silent Battles, a book exploring the emotional struggles that often remain invisible behind everyday life. The book has also been translated into Hindi as Chuppi.
I have also written Mirrors Within Moments, a collection of poetry. I am a writer at Medium, where I share stories about real life, lessons, relationships, untapped emotions and everything emotional and inspiring.
Through my writing, I often return to the same themes that draw me towards psychology—human emotions, relationships, loneliness, self-discovery, resilience, women’s experiences and the quiet battles we don’t always talk about.
Perhaps writing and counselling have more in common than we realise.
Both begin with listening.
Why I Chose This Path
I don’t believe that we become who we are through one single experience.
We are shaped by hundreds of little moments.
The people who loved us.
The people who disappointed us.
The things we lost.
The things we survived.
The choices we made.
The choices we wish we had made differently.
The dreams we pursued.
And sometimes, the dreams we quietly gave up on.
Our experiences don’t have to define us forever.
But they deserve to be understood.
That belief is at the heart of why I chose this path.
I want to create a space where people can pause, reflect, understand and grow. Not because there is something “wrong” with them. But because every one of us deserves the opportunity to understand ourselves a little better.
My Approach
My approach is grounded in empathy, listening, respect and psychological understanding. I believe that every person’s experiences are unique, and therefore, there cannot always be a one-size-fits-all answer to emotional struggles.
I don’t promise instant transformation.
I believe in something more meaningful: small steps, greater awareness, honest conversations and gradual change.
And Beyond All These Roles:
Before I am a scientist, educator, author or counsellor, I am simply a human being who is endlessly curious about other human beings.
I love books.
I love writing.
I love teaching.
I enjoy painting, music, cooking and travelling.
I love meaningful conversations.
And I believe that sometimes the most ordinary conversations can leave the deepest impact.
I am still learning.
Still growing.
Still questioning.
Still discovering.
And perhaps that is why I understand that none of us really has life completely figured out.
We are all works in progress.
And that’s okay.
If You Found Your Way Here…
Maybe you’re looking for someone to talk to.
Maybe you’re trying to understand yourself.
Maybe you’re struggling with thoughts that won’t stop.
Maybe you’re a parent trying to understand your child.
Maybe your child or teenager is going through something you don’t quite know how to handle.
Or perhaps you simply feel stuck and don’t know what your next step should be.
Whatever brought you here, you don’t need to have everything figured out.
You don’t even need to know exactly what to say.
You can simply begin.
I’ll listen.
And together, we can begin to understand what your story is trying to tell you.
Welcome to my space.
